🌎An Earth Day to Remember: Environmental Empathy with Citizens at Yeouido Park
On Sunday, April 20th, we celebrated Earth Day at Yeouido Park, where many citizens joined us for a meaningful and engaging experience.
This event was designed to share environmental awareness education in a way that was both fun and accessible. With a focus on learning through doing, it served as a participatory environmental governance program that combined hands-on activities with thoughtful messaging.
Through two key programs—Environmental Tarot Card Reading and Moss Terrarium Making—we aimed to raise awareness about biodiversity and the climate crisis, while encouraging citizens to reflect on how their daily choices can lead to more sustainable living.

🔮 Exploring the Environment through Emotion and Imagination
– Environmental Tarot Card Experience
The Environmental Tarot Card Experience invited participants to explore the past, present, and future of our planet through symbolic cards, offering a reflective and emotional approach to understanding environmental issues.
More than just a fun activity, this experience used the theme of biodiversity to help participants recognize the urgent environmental challenges we face—and imagine a hopeful, future-oriented path forward.
Participants were encouraged to find connections between their own lives and the environment, and to share small but meaningful changes they could make.
The activity proved to be a memorable and impactful way to deliver environmental education with lightness and creativity, without compromising the depth of its message.

🌿 Feeling Nature at Your Fingertips
– Moss Terrarium Making Experience
Next, we invited participants to take part in the Moss Terrarium Making Experience, where they could create a miniature ecosystem using moss—a key bio-indicator species.
By layering soil, moss, and tiny decorative elements in clear containers, participants created their own personal green space while naturally learning about the importance of biodiversity and the role of carbon-absorbing plants.
This activity seamlessly blended education with creativity, capturing the attention and hearts of all age groups—from families and children to seniors.
The moss terrariums, lovingly crafted by participants, now serve as beautiful, lasting reminders of the day—and symbols of our ongoing commitment to sustainable living.

🤝 A Moment of Shared Understanding and Collective Action
This Earth Day program went far beyond a one-time experience. It was a space where citizens could deepen their understanding of environmental issues and feel empowered to take sustainable actions in everyday life.
Designed as an environmental governance activity and a citizen empowerment program, it emphasized that small changes—when embraced by many—can lead to profound collective impact.
Thanks to everyone’s enthusiasm and heartfelt participation, the event became a shared moment of hope, empathy, and commitment to the planet.
💚 Thank You for Being With Us
Earth Day may be just one day on the calendar, but the message we shared—that our actions matter every day—remains with us.
We look forward to creating more opportunities where citizens can take the lead in environmental education and participatory action toward a sustainable future.
Thank you once again to everyone who joined us. We can’t wait to welcome you to our next meaningful program!
